We don’t just represent a student body: we represent the world. This isn’t an exaggeration when it comes to this school. “Diversity University,” better known as Temple University, is located in North Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. We’re one of the most diverse schools in the nation. We take pride in our diversity but we come together as one school, one mascot, and one owl nation.
College doesn’t just mean boring lectures, tests and homework. To us it means more. We’re surrounded by the plethora of city life only a few miles down the road from our campus. College means: lunch trucks, museums, famous guest speakers, football games in the Eagles Stadium, Restaurant Week, Rittenhouse Square Park, Walnut Street, Penns Landing and more. To put it simply, college means “city living.”
Because we are so diverse it’s hard to capture a specific tradition or activity that embodies our school. Our traditions don’t just reside within our University walls but they lie beyond that and melt into the communities around us. Our tradition, our ritual, is embodying ‘brotherly love’. Whats does it mean? We live in a richly diverse city, as a University, we mirror the city because we welcome with open arms people and cultures from all over the world. Language barriers, culture and ethnicity don’t separate us because in our hearts we are all proud Temple Owls. There is only one school where you can mix culture, ethnicity, hobbies, various academic aspirations and school spirit and create a college like Temple University. Diversity University, it’s what we do, its who we are, it’s cherry and white.
