10 Simple Habits to Boost Your Happiness

Ever have those days where no matter what you do, everything seems to go wrong? It’s totally normal to have off days and feel down sometimes, but this doesn’t mean you can’t turn your day around and find some happiness. While there’s no one correct way to find happiness, we’ve got a few suggestions up our sleeve!


1. Get enough sleep.

There’s no denying it – sleepiness makes us more irritable. You’re likely to handle stressful situations better when you’re well rested. If you have trouble sleeping at night, check out these easy hacks for a better night’s sleep.

2. Exercise.

Many people find that exercising is a positive way to channel their negative feelings. Exercise really does make you happier because it increases endorphins in your brain while reducing your stress hormones.




3. Spend time with loved ones.

Our loved ones have a special way of always picking us up when we’re down. Whether it’s making us laugh, offering advice, or just lending a listening ear, our friends and family members never fail at making us feel better.

4. Meditate.

People who regularly practice meditation tend to feel more at peace with themselves and more in control of their lives. Consequently, they also experience less hard and stressful days. Practicing for just 5-10 minutes per day can make a big difference!




5. Laugh.

It’s pretty obvious that laughter is a great way to boost your happiness, but did you know there’s actually some science behind it? Just like exercising, laughter decreases stress hormones and increases endorphins in our brains. Laughter should be a part of your life daily!

6. Read.

What better way to forget about a bad day than to get lost within a book? Not only is reading a fun hobby in general, but it’s also pretty relaxing during a stressful day when all we want to do is forget about our troubles for awhile.




7. Practice random acts of kindness.

Unfortunately, some people tend to take a negative mood out on others, which in turn can just increase tension and make their bad mood even worse. However, practicing random acts of kindness can be an instant mood booster. When you see the smiles and gratitude you’ve given other people, it’s sure to make you feel good about yourself.

8. Enjoy nature.

Spending time outdoors is the perfect way to get back to your happy place. Studies have actually shown that spending time in nature is a restorative behavior, so you’ll naturally feel more positive after heading outdoors for bit. We suggest killing two birds with one stone by taking regular walks outside – you’ll get the benefits of exercise and the outdoors.




9. Listen to music.

It’s hard not to be happy while listening to some feel-good tunes. Try frowning while dancing in the mirror or singing in the shower – it’s not easy!

10. Practice gratitude.

Remember to show appreciation daily. It can be hard on those days where you feel like everything is going wrong, but practicing gratitude forces you to realize that there are always things that you can appreciate.
