6 Ways to Shake First-Day-Of-Class Nerves (As Shown by Reality TV)

The first day of classes are approaching, which understandably makes everyone a bit nervous. After all, it’s a brand new experience for you! It’s normal to feel a bit overwhelmed, which is why we decided to offer our best advice with the help of some of our favorite stars on reality TV.

1. Give yourself a pep talk.

Instead of telling yourself everything that might go wrong, replace those words with ones of encouragement. It’s simple, yet effective!

2. Find your happy place.

If the pep talk doesn’t cut it, replace those intrusive thoughts with things that make you feel calm. It’s a real de-stress method called imagery!

3. Give yourself something to look forward to.

Instead of focusing on how nervous you are for class, give yourself something exciting to think about instead. Plan something to do after class that you’ll look forward to – even if it’s just a much needed nap!

4. Find time to do something relaxing.

What makes you feel calm? Maybe it’s eating your favorite snack or watching funny cat videos. Whatever it is, it’ll be a good distraction when the nerves start kicking in!

5. Don’t forget about your support system.

Your family and friends are always there to support you whenever you’re nervous – don’t forget it! Text your friends on the way to class, or swap some funny Snapchats to lessen the nerves. They always have your back!

6. Spend the extra time to look your best.

When we feel like we look good, we automatically feel more confident. Confidence is the ultimate way to shake nerves, so take the extra time to pick out your favorite outfit and break out those new shoes you’ve been dying to wear!
