What to Do if You Feel Like You’re Falling Behind

Before you know it, the school year is in full swing and there are suddenly exams to study for, projects to get done, and meetings to attend. This can get pretty overwhelming! Here’s what we suggest doing if you feel like you’re falling behind.

 

 

Schedule a catch up day.

Sometimes the best way to get back on top of your tasks is to just sit down and tackle it all at once. Find a day where you can clear your schedule of everything (yes, even those lunch plans!) and just focus on catching up. Your friends can wait!

 

Talk with classmates.

Your classmates can actually help out a lot! They can clarify any confusing assignments that are holding you back, offer help with studying, or just propose any advice that has worked for them. Maybe they’ll even pick up some more slack in that group project you’ve been pulling the weight of!

 

Remember to say, “no.”

Sometimes you just need to focus on yourself, and that’s okay! If your boss calls and asks you to pick up a shift, don’t feel like you’re letting them down when you have to do homework instead. Or, if your friends are begging you for a night out, understand that you may need to pass on their offer to catch up on studying.

 

Come up with a to-do list and a plan.

Trying to mentally juggle all of your responsibilities is overwhelming! Mapping out your priorities on a physical to-do list helps paint a better picture of what you need to get done. Then, you can easily come up with a plan of action to tackle these tasks.

Find a tutor.

If you find that you’re falling behind because you’re not understanding your coursework, finding a tutor is your best bet. You might think scheduling these tutor sessions will just add more to your plate, but just think of how much time you’ll save on homework and studying once you understand what you’re learning!

 

Invest in a planner.

Catching up on your work is one thing, but you’ll also want to make sure you don’t fall behind again! Break the cycle by investing in a planner so that your responsibilities are always organized.

 

Remember to de-stress!
