These so-called “morning people” totally seem like a rare breed. Who can actually wake up and hop out of bed in a good mood? It’s crazy!
But what if we told you that you can actually start your day on a brighter note? That alarm clock might seem like an enemy, but you can defeat that negativity by following these seven tips.
1. Let some sunshine in.
Think about the first few moments after your alarm goes off. It’s horrible, right? A little bit of sunshine can actually make it a whole lot easier to crawl out of bed, though, because the light lets your brain know that it’s time to start your day. Pop open those blinds so that when you wake up, your room is filled with sunshine rather than darkness!
2. Eat a filling breakfast.
There’s a reason they say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Think of eating breakfast as the fuel you need to get going. You can’t have a bright, productive day if you’re running on empty!
3. Listen to music.
Music is the best mood-booster. Pick your favorite pump-up playlist and use it as a soundtrack while you’re getting ready, or play a calming melody and settle into a quick, morning meditation. Whichever works best for you!
4. Choose your caffeine boost.
From a simple cup of coffee to a fancy iced caramel macchiato, there’s no denying that a caffeine fix can jump start your day. Just don’t go overboard…you don’t want to crash later on!
5. Focus on a positive thought.
When you’re still not fully awake, the thought of all your upcoming responsibilities for the day can seem haunting, but simply changing your perspective can make a dramatic difference. Shift your thoughts to something more positive—like that delicious lunch you’ll be grabbing with your friend later on.
6. Give yourself extra time.
Think about all the things that can go wrong when you rush through your morning routine—you might spill your coffee, forget something at home, or even just not have enough time to put together a great outfit! Take away that stress by allowing for some extra time to get ready, even if it means waking up a bit earlier. Who wants to deal with a time crunch when you’re still half asleep, anyways?
7. Set your goal for the day.
You can choose to get up and just go through the motions of your day, or you can wake up inspired to accomplish something. We think you should go for the latter. Set your intentions in the morning before you start your day. It’s great motivation to actually follow through with your desire!
