The Microwave Breakfast Recipes You Need Right Now

We’ve all heard it before – “breakfast is the most important meal of the day.” Don’t skip it just because you live in a dorm room! We pulled together four of our favorite microwave-friendly recipes. Check them out below!

French Toast in a Mug

Can you think of a sweeter way to kick off your day than with a mug full of french toast? Hint: the answer is no. With only a few ingredients, it’s a super simple microwave recipe to try.

What You’ll Need:

  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. extra rich pure vanilla extract
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 4 slices bread, torn into cubes
  • 1 Tbsp. of toppings per mug (can include chocolate chips, nuts, etc.)
  • Powdered sugar and maple syrup to go on top

Avocado Omelet

Start your day off on the right food with this delicious avocado omelet made right in a mug! It takes only a few minutes, so whip it together when you’re on the go.

What You’ll Need:

  • 2 eggs
  • Salt and pepper
  • 2 Tbsp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 Tbsp salsa
  • 1/2 avocado, sliced

Baked Oatmeal in a Mug

Perfect for a morning that you need a little TLC, this baked oatmeal will warm you from the inside out.

What You’ll Need:

  • 1/2 cup of quick cooking oats
  • 1 Tbsp ground flax seed
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/3 of a banana, mashed up
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 of an apple, chopped
  • 2 Tsp honey

A savory start to the day! Make a mug for yourself and a mug for a friend.

What You’ll Need:

  • 1 egg
  • 1.5 Tbsp milk
  • Salt & pepper
  • 1/4 of a bagel (or similar amount of French bread, etc.)
  • 2 tsps cream cheese
  • 1/2 slice prosciutto or ham
  • Fresh thyme leaves or freshly chopped chives
  • Dijon mustard
